Established in 2015 by the United Nations, the event aims to promote women’s and girls’ participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects and to highlight gender disparities in these fields.

Dr. Nikitha Kendyala, M.Sc., PhD
CEO/Co-founder
Leading from the front Dr. Nikitha Kendyala is very passionate about Science and Entrepreneurship. She has completed her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and has over 14 years of academic and industrial experience in cell and molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics where she performed meta-analysis of genomic data from cancer studies and published several research articles and a book chapter. Along with her partner, she co-founded Nucliq Biologics in 2019 with the goal of transforming chronic disease management using microbiome science.
Farida Samad-Zada, M.Sc.
Bioinformatics Lead
Farida has a rich background in genomics, and having worked on a variety of different study systems throughout her career. Farida obtained a Master’s degree from the University of British Columba, where she used data insights from NGS-based methods to inform sockeye salmon restoration initiatives. Since then, she has become interested in applying bioinformatics tools to address real-world problems. At Nucliq Biologics, Farida uses sequencing data to investigate how the gut microbiome contributes to human health and is responsible for building automation workflows to increase the data processing speed
Dr. Shazia Janwari, M.Sc., PhD
Machine Learning Engineer
Dr. Shazia Janwari is the Machine Learning expert at Nucliq Biologics. She received her Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore in 2015. Later she was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Aix-Marseille University France and JNCASR Bangalore during which she worked on various Machine Learning/ Artificial intelligence projects. She has a vast academic research experience and published many peers reviewed articles.
Nicole Walsh, B.Sc.
Marketing & Customer Communications Manager
Joined as a research intern a year ago and now transitioned to full-time team member, Nicole is creative, enthusiastic, and awesome at her work. Nicole has previously completed a BSc in Biochemistry and is a master’s student at Memorial University in the community health and humanities division. When she is not working on her research Nicole enjoys running and reading!
Sadie Whitehorne
Computer Science Student Intern
Fourth year Computer Science student at Memorial University and been part of Nucliq for a while now, very proactive and with strong programming skills. She is utilizing her coding expertise to speedup certain processes contributing to our technological development.
Abigail King
R&D Student Intern
Abby is a fourth-year student at Memorial University where she’s completing a Bachelor of Science (co-operative) with a major in Biology. She’s passionate about uplifting women in science and hopes to inspire others to do the same. She just started her last work term here at Nucliq Biologics and is excited about the new adventure!
